PanicALERT – Wireless Staff Duress & Mobile Panic Alert System

PanicALERT by SecurTRAK is an enterprise-grade wireless panic and staff duress alerting system designed for hospitals, corrections facilities, government buildings, universities, and large campus environments. When a staff member presses their mobile duress button, PanicALERT instantly transmits their identity, photograph, and precise indoor/outdoor location to security — enabling the fastest, most effective emergency response available.

The Growing Threat: Workplace Violence in Healthcare & Corrections

Healthcare workers face an epidemic of workplace violence. According to OSHA, hospital workers are five times more likely to suffer workplace violence injuries than workers in other industries. Correctional officers face even higher rates. A reliable staff duress system is no longer optional — it is essential for staff retention, regulatory compliance, and duty of care.

How PanicALERT Works

Staff wear a lightweight active RFID badge with an integrated wireless panic button. A single press triggers an immediate alert with the staff member’s name, photo, and precise real-time locating coordinates displayed on AutoCAD floor plans in a web browser. The system uses RF triangulation to pinpoint location with 5-meter accuracy indoors and line-of-sight/quadrant accuracy outdoors — across the entire campus.

SecurTRAK combines three complementary technologies on a single hardwired infrastructure: Active RFID at 433 MHz provides blanket indoor/outdoor coverage with 5-meter (room-level) accuracy and cannot be covered up or blocked — the always-on reliability backstop that keeps tags from ever being lost to the system. Diffused Infrared (IR) locates tags to a specific bed in a multi-bed room or to room-specific accuracy (because IR does not penetrate walls), with the 433 MHz layer maintaining tracking if IR is momentarily blocked under a blanket or covering. Low-Frequency (LF) Exciters create a field-adjustable 2-to-12-foot electromagnetic bubble for instant choke-point detection at doorways, elevators, and boundaries. No Wi-Fi or BLE system can match this combination of blanket coverage, bed-level precision, and reliability.

Why PanicALERT is the Best Staff Duress System

PanicALERT for Corrections & Government Facilities

PanicALERT is deployed at corrections facilities, mental health institutions, and federal buildings where staff duress and mobile duress are critical safety requirements. Our system meets the stringent security standards required by the VA, Department of Justice, and state correctional agencies.

Integration with SecurTRAK Platform

PanicALERT operates on the same infrastructure as PatienTRAK (patient tracking) and AsseTRAK (asset tracking). One hardwired infrastructure serves all three applications. View everything on the unified SecurTRAK Software Platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does PanicALERT work?

Every staff member wears a badge with a concealed duress button carrying 433 MHz RF, infrared, and LF technology. One press transmits an alert with the staff member’s identity and exact location — which building, which floor, which room — to security monitoring stations within 5 seconds.

Does PanicALERT work in stairwells and basements?

Yes. 433 MHz RF penetrates concrete walls, steel doors, and floor assemblies where Wi-Fi and BLE signals fail. PanicALERT transmits from stairwells, restrooms, basements, and parking structures — the isolated locations where staff are most vulnerable and Wi-Fi coverage is weakest.

Can PanicALERT integrate with CCTV and access control?

Yes. When a duress alert fires, SecurTRAK can automatically activate cameras at the alert location, lock or unlock doors, trigger overhead announcements, and page security with room-level directions — providing a coordinated response in seconds.
