Technology Foundation: Three Blended Technologies on a Single Hardwired Infrastructure

SecurTRAK’s hardwired infrastructure combines three complementary wireless technologies that no single RTLS can match. Each layer covers the weaknesses of the others, delivering unprecedented accuracy, reliability, and flexibility on one investment:

• Active RFID at 433 MHz — Provides blanket coverage indoors and outdoors with 5-meter accuracy (room-level identification). The 433 MHz signal cannot be blocked by blankets, bedding, clothing, body mass, or equipment — so tags are never lost to the system. This is the always-on reliability backstop
• Diffused Infrared (IR) — Locates tags to a specific bed in a multi-bed room or to room-specific accuracy because IR does not penetrate walls. Ideal for ICU beds, isolation rooms, and precision applications. If the tag is momentarily covered under a blanket, the 433 MHz layer continues tracking without interruption
• 125 KHz Low-Frequency (LF) Exciters — Create a field-adjustable electromagnetic bubble with a 2-to-12-foot radius, tuned precisely to each choke point. LF exciters trigger instant entry/exit detection at doorways, elevators, stairwells, and geo-fence boundaries with millisecond response times
